WRU Apprenticeship Expression of Interest 2024/2025

Job Title: WRU Rugby Development Apprentice
Contract Type: 12-month fixed term contract
Location: The National Centre of Excellence, Principality Stadium, throughout the Scarlets, Cardiff, Dragons, RGC & Ospreys Regions
Job Summary:
The Welsh Rugby Union Group (WRU) is proud to offer a fantastic opportunity for young people to join our apprenticeship programme. We are looking for dynamic young people who demonstrate a ‘can do’ attitude, willingness to try new things and display our values in all that they do.
The WRU Rugby Development Apprenticeship Programme provides young people with recognised qualifications, new skills, knowledge and a wealth of experience working as a Rugby Development Apprentice.

During the 12 month programme, you will work towards a Level 4 Foundation in Sport Management and Development supported by Cardiff Metropolitan University and will also be required to complete a range of rugby related technical qualifications. You will be mentored by WRU development staff and receive pastoral assistance from the WRU Apprenticeship Officer.

This Apprenticeship is also a stepping stone for someone who is undecided if University is an option for them and can give the time to discover the various choice of courses that may appeal and can be based on an apprentices experience through the programme. This gives 12 months of employment experience and the opportunity to explore various options of career pathways utilising the wide network the WRU Group can offer. It also gives someone a chance to experience the world of sport development whilst achieving a Foundation qualification. It is not aimed at Graduates.

“We are really excited to be working with the Welsh Rugby Union Group to provide this opportunity for you to develop your knowledge and skills in the world of sport and open the doorway to your future career in this vibrant and dynamic industry. We look forward to meeting you during your foundation programme and afterwards if you choose to progress on to one of our courses at Cardiff Metropolitan University, including:

Sport Coaching
